The Humane Society

hsusThe Humane Society of the United States is the nation’s largest and most effective animal protection organization—backed by 10 million Americans, or one in every 30. Established in 1954, The HSUS seeks a humane and sustainable world for all animals—a world that will also benefit people. They are America’s mainstream force against cruelty, exploitation and neglect, as well as the most trusted voice extolling the human-animal bond.

The Animals & Religion program of The Humane Society of the United States seeks to engage people and institutions of faith with animal protection issues, on the premise that religious values call upon us all to act in a kind and merciful way toward animals.

The Clapham Group:

  • Serves as chief campaign architects and on-going advisors for the Animals and Religion Department.
  • Designed the 2008 and 2009 All Creatures Great and Small campaign.
  • Identifies key religious leaders and celebrities to partner with the program
  • Provides sermon resources and helped identify useful cultural artifacts
  • Guides and advises day-to-day campaign implementation

The first year of the ACGS campaign netted 14,000 supporters and endorsements from major faith leaders/denominations.
