Clapham Commons: A New Website Experience
At Clapham, we often find ourselves working in the spaces between.
Between left and right. Between secular and religious. Between creativity and cause. More than ever there is a need for work that lives in the in-between, a need for bridge building. And it’s where we’ve spent the last 18 years, walking alongside people and organizations who believe the same: that we can still pursue common cause, uncover common ground, and advance the common good. It is through this bridge building that we’ve seen unlikely partnerships grow into meaningful, lasting change.
As we step into that space, we also have two updates we’re grateful to share:
A renovated website, built to better reflect our work, our people, and the shared ground we help others find
A new advocacy offering, led by our new affiliate, Joe Murray, who brings deep experience in public policy and bridge-building
A Website That Reflects Clapham’s Mission
Our name has always pointed backward and forward. Inspired by the Clapham Sect—a group of 18th-century reformers who blended cultural and political influence to help end the transatlantic slave trade—we’ve long believed that transformation happens when people come together across difference for a shared vision of human flourishing.
Our new site reflects that same belief.
It’s built to reflect what’s been true of our work all along: that bridge-building happens through relationship, creativity, and collaboration. You'll see it in our client list, which spans sectors and ideologies. In our approach, which combines deep research, bold ideas, and a commitment to partnership. And in our posture—bipartisan, faith-informed, and always seeking common ground.
As our principal Mark Rodgers wrote in our blog post, We Have Far More in Common,
“The question is not whether we will disagree, but how. By identifying common concerns and giving permission to explore them together, we affirm the virtue—and the value—of protecting common ground. Only then do we have the relational trust to pursue the common good.”
That trust is what we’re building toward. We hope the new site feels like an invitation—to connect, collaborate, and walk with us in that work.
Welcoming Joe Murray and Expanding Into Advocacy
We’re also excited to welcome Joe Murray as a new affiliate of The Clapham Group.
A seasoned policy expert and public servant, Joe brings extensive experience from Capitol Hill, the White House, and national advocacy work. He’s served in both the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, advised on issues ranging from health care to human rights, and built coalitions across sectors and ideologies.
Joe shares our belief that advocacy is about building bridges. We are directing needs for advocacy on the Hill to his firm to help organizations engage leadership there on issues aligned with our commitment for common ground and common good.
Here at Clapham, we’re thankful to do this work—in the spaces between, alongside fellow bridge builders.
