Social Capital Campaign Report: THE EARLY YEARS - Youth Investment

Clapham Senior Associate, Chris Bullivant published the latest Social Capital Campaign report: "The Early Years - Youth Investment” on social capital and youth investment.

The United States is an international outlier among developed countries in its hostility toward mothers and 0-3s. Reporting the highest maternal mortality rates, particularly for women of color, and being the sole developed country in the world to not offer any paid leave for mothers. And yet, maternal bonding and secure attachment are associated with a lifetime of positive outcomes for children.

Here we look at what could be done to make America a world leader in allowing people of all backgrounds to be able to invest in their 0-3s with a solid foundation of secure attachment in a society where 1 in 4 mothers return to work just 2 weeks after giving birth.
