Lausanne Reflections

In October, I (Jeff) had the privilege of serving as a member of the Global Executive Leadership Forum and US delegate to the 3rd Lausanne Congress held in Cape Town, South Africa. As a member of the Global Executive Leadership Forum, we worked with business executives from around the world to better integrate the business community into the call to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ to the nations. The time there was incredibly transformational and speakers like John Piper, Doug Birdsall, and Tim Keller guided the community into deep reflection on our work as evangelicals and business leaders.I wanted to share with you one of the most powerful testimonies from the Congress. A young girl from North Korea shared the work God has done in her life and her call to go back to North Korea and lay down her life to bring freedom to her people by introducing them to the loving God through Jesus Christ. This video is well worth your 9 minutes and continues to bring me to tears each time I watch it.I love Jesus' question to her, "How much longer are you going to keep me waiting? Walk with me". And her wonderful response, "God, here I am. I just laid down everything and give you my heart, my soul, my mind, and my strength. Please, use me as you will." It is indeed the question God asks us all. How much longer are you going to keep me waiting? Walk with me.During our day off, I had the privilege of joining These Numbers Have Faces and visiting a community school in the Crossroads Township of South Africa. These Numbers Have Faces invests in the future leaders of South Africa by empowering young people to reduce poverty in their own communities. Through college scholarships and a dynamic Community Impact Model based on service, mentoring, and financial literacy, young people are developing the skills to transform South Africa. They are a wonderful organization worth checking out.
